Summer Internships (multiple positions available) - Department of Energy –
Office of the Chief Financial Officer - Washington, DC
The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) is seeking highly talented,
inquisitive undergraduate and graduate students with backgrounds in a variety of
quantitative and analytical fields for summer internships. The OCFO advises the
Secretary on a broad array of issues including: climate change; energy security;
environmental impacts of energy; nuclear security; and science and innovation.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills and a background in a
quantitative (science, engineering, economics, and other technical fields) or an
analytical (public policy and administration, business, accounting) field.
Internships (paid!) are three month appointments (typically May-August) and
students may be re-appointed each summer throughout their college career.
Interns will be placed in the following offices within the OCFO:
Office of Program Analysis and Evaluation – Analysis project that focuses
on a specific program office topic such as an R&D energy program, technology
strand, common technology deployment issue, such as needed policy.
Loan Guarantee Office – Project supporting a Senior Investment Officer in
the review and process of loan guarantee applications and the negotiation of
loan guarantee agreements to include performing the credit analysis of new loan
guarantee applications, involving detailed credit analysis, financial models,
credit assessment, and risk analysis associated with projects.
Office of Budget – Analysis of a key technical program issue and
preparation of an options paper that will be used to brief the Secretary/and or
Deputy Secretary of Energy.
