7th Annual Florida Brownfields Conference to Be Held in Sarasota

CALL FOR POSTERS
In our continuing effort to promote the development and advancement of the Brownfields practice, the Florida Brownfields Association (FBA) is proud to announce a solicitation for posters to be displayed and presented at the 7th Annual Florida Brownfields Conference in Sarasota, Florida, August 15-18, 2004. With the location of the conference in Sarasota, home of circus magnate John Ringling, the theme of this years’ conference is “Taming Brownfields…From Rural Communities to Urban Areas”. The poster sessions will provide applicants with an opportunity to share project successes, innovative ideas, and new applications of technology. Posters should address issues related to the mission of the FBA, which is to promote a wide array of Brownfield-related goals, objectives and initiatives, including environmental restoration, economic revitalization, natural resources preservation, conservation and recreational-based beneficial reuse, enhancement of financial and regulatory incentives, job creation and training, public health, environmental equity and justice, and community outreach and education.

The poster sessions will be held in a high-visibility area throughout the day on Monday, August 16, and featured at the Monday evening reception at Mote Marine. We request that the authors of selected posters be available to present, explain, and discuss their work during the morning and afternoon breaks, and during the evening reception. One individual per poster is invited to attend the conference on Monday at no cost, and highly encouraged to attend the remainder of the conference.
