Florida Sea Grant Scholarships and Fellowships

Florida Sea Grant is requesting applications from students in Florida universities for four programs. Full details can be found at the Florida Sea Grant website: www.flseagrant.org.

Aylesworth and Old Salt Student Scholarships—These awards can be up to $4,000 per year and are for the duration of the student’s degree program. Applications are due at Florida Sea Grant on November 3, 2006.

Knauss Marine Policy Fellowships—This program allows the student to spend a year in Washington, D.C., in the legislative or executive branches of government. Applications are not due at Florida Sea Grant until March 9, 2007, but interested students are encouraged to contact the Florida Sea Grant office well ahead of the application deadline to discuss the program and receive advice on preparing the application.

NOAA Coastal Services Center Coastal Management Fellowship—This two-year opportunity offers on-the-job education and training in coastal resource management and policy in a state coastal management office. Applications are due at Florida Sea Grant on January 29, 2007.

NMFS/SG Joint Graduate Fellowship in Population Dynamics and Marine Resource Economics—Fellows will work on thesis or dissertation problems of public interest and relevance to NMFS and work with NMFS mentors at participating NMFS Science Centers or Laboratories. Applications are due at Florida Sea Grant on February 2, 2007.
