The University of Florida requires all new students entering the University and those students entering the junior year to have access to a computer. Basic computer capability means that you will need to bring a computer with you to the University, use the limited computer laboratories around campus, lease a computer, or buy a computer. The University does not require any specific brand, but we will provide recommendations to help you make good choices.

EES Requirements

Computer Size
A notebook computer is required to more fully integrate the computer's use in academia. Being able to bring the computer to campus, use it in class and group projects, as well as having faster access to the network will improve the student's capabilities.

Software
Students should purchase a current version of Microsoft Office that includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

Networking Capability
Wireless network capability is required.  Integrated wireless is highly recommended.
