Synopsis of Research Interests
  • Partitioning of semivolatile organic compounds
  • Secondary organic aerosol formation
  • Heterogeneous organic aerosol productions through aerosol-phase reactions
  • Nanotechnology for aerosol exposure studies
  • Health effects of atmospheric particles.
  • SOA health effects:
  • Our study showed that exposure of in vitro respiratory cells to SOA created from ozonolysis of terpenes resulted in increases in IL-8 in cell cultures.
  • Health effects of Indoor air pollution:
  • environmental tobacco smoke interaction with ozone, exposure of in vitro respiratory cells. Exposure of isogenic chicken DT40 cells deficient in a single DNA damage response gene to environmental tobacco smoke using nanoparticle technology
  • Optical Properties of atmospheric particulate matter
  • Air pollution modeling
  • Additional material available in this instructor's personal pages.
