7. Write Statement of Purpose

Required for all applicants. This should outline your background, specific interest in our program, and the proposed Graduate Research and Education Area you have chosen.

8. Write Consent for Authorized Persons to Access Your Application (Recommended) 

If you would like for anyone other than yourself to have access to the information in your application file, you must provide written consent with the names of those whom you wish to have access. This includes inquiries pertaining to the status of your application. This cannot be sent through e-mail or fax. We strongly encourage you to also send a written consent to the Office of Admissions as well as our Department.

9. Additional Information You Will Need for Online Application
   

Have the following items on hand BEFORE accessing the online application:

  • Emergency contact person, address and phone number (all applicants)
  • All Post-Secondary schools attended - names, dates, and degrees (all applicants)
  • Junior-Senior level Grades and credit hours for self-reported Grade Point Average calculation (US Citizens only)
  • Current college enrollment & any courses to be completed prior to UF Graduate school admission - course names, credit hours, dates (all applicants)
  • Admissions Test scores (GRE for all applicants, TOEFL for international) for self-reporting (in addition to sending official test scores, you must report them on the application. For details see sections on Minimum Requirements and Official Documents).
  • If claiming Florida residency: voter registration, driver license, vehicle registration.

    If you are claiming residency other than as an independent person living in Florida for the past year, you may need additional information. See details on claiming Florida Residency.
     
10. Complete (or edit) the Online Application

BEFORE going to the application, be sure you have the information listed in step #9 "Prepare Other Information" above; you cannot save partial work!

13. Mail $30 Fee and All Materials as Directed to the Correct Offices

$30 Application Fee
Checks and money orders should be made payable to the University of Florida. Do not send cash. Previous applicants who have paid a $30 application fee are exempt. Your application will not be processed without the required fee.
 

It is important to complete all of the steps. There are materials which you must also mail and it is recommended that you collect and complete all of your supplementary materials before submitting the on-line application. Your application will not be processed until ALL of your materials are received at the various offices.
